Our Priest

Fr. Lonnie

The Rev. Thomas Alonzo Lacy, II — known to St. Anne's members as "Father Lonnie" — was called as Rector of St. Anne's Episcopal Church in May of 2009. Prior to joining us in Tifton, Fr. Lonnie served concurrently as the Episcopal Chaplain to Georgia Southern University and the Assistant Rector at Trinity Episcopal Church in Statesboro, Georgia.

A native of Valdosta, Georgia (only 50 miles from Tifton), Fr. Lonnie grew up as a member of Christ Episcopal Church and was heavily involved in the youth programs of the Episcopal Diocese of Georgia. After graduating from Valdosta High School in 1998, he attended Reinhardt College in Waleska, Georgia, where he received a bachelor's degree in Liberal Studies with an associate's degree in Business Administration. After college, he was accepted to Virginia Theological Seminary, where he completed his studies for the priesthood in May of 2006.

The Lacys

Fr. Lonnie is married to Jessica "Jay" Lacy, whom he met in college and who currently works in their home as a full-time mother. Fr. Lonnie and Jay are the proud parents of two beautiful and vivacious daughters: Mary Grace, who was born in 2007, and Kendall, born in 2009. They also have two whippets (miniature greyhounds) named Solomon and Jonah.

Fr. Lonnie is actively involved in the life of our diocese, his seminary, and the local Tifton community. On the diocesan level, he serves frequently as chaplain to various diocesan youth events; was a member of the Search Committee for the 10th Bishop of Georgia; and is a participant in the pilot Consortium of Georgia Parishes for the 21st Century. He also serves on the Board of Trustees at Virginia Theological Seminary and is the youngest person to have served as President of the Alumni/Alumnae Executive Committee of the seminary. Here in Tifton, Fr. Lonnie is a member of the Tifton Rotary Club and serves with other clergy in the community as an on-call chaplain to Tift Regional Medical Center.

Fr. Lonnie Preaching

Within the life of the Church, Fr. Lonnie's passions are preaching and worship, offering both in such a way as to help people find direct access to God and the boundless riches of his love.

Beyond the Church, Fr. Lonnie is interested in family, art, music, nature, graphic/web design, and Southern literature. His favorite author is William Faulkner. He also is the first to admit that he is a little too enamored of a few too many television shows, some of which include LOST, The Office, Parks and Recreation, 30 Rock, Arrested Development, Friday Night Lights, Dirty Jobs, and more than one Star Trek series. (Hey, we've all got to have our guilty pleasures.)

If you would like to learn more about Fr. Lonnie and are an active member of Facebook, feel free to visit his Facebook profile and get to know him better. Or better still, join us for worship at St. Anne's, and introduce yourself afterward!
