Holy Week is the most sacred time we share at St. Anne’s. From Palm Sunday to Easter Sunday (April 1-8), we walk step-by-step with Jesus and bear witness to the events that forever changed human history. Please make every effort to worship with us every day in Holy Week.
Palm Sunday, April 1
10:00 a.m.
Weather permitting, the congregation gathers in the memorial garden for the Liturgy of the Palms and processes together into the sanctuary, commemorating Jesus’ entry into Jerusalem.
Holy Monday, Tuesday & Wednesday, April 2-4
6:30 p.m.
Each night we gather in Little St. Anne’s for a simple Eucharist and hear the stories of the events leading to Christ’s final days.
Maundy Thursday, April 5
6:30 p.m. + Foot Washing, Eucharist & Stripping of Altar
This night commemorates Christ’s Last Supper and the washing of his disciples’s feet, making this one of the most moving services of the week. After Communion, the altar is stripped bare, and individuals volunteer to keep vigil before the Blessed Sacrament in Little St. Anne’s.
12:00 a.m. + Benediction of the Blessed Sacrament
At midnight the Blessed Sacrament is transported back to the Main Sanctuary where sung prayers are offered by the priest. This brief and mystical service provides a unique opportunity for the adoration of Christ and his presence among us.
Good Friday, April 6
12:00 p.m. + The Good Friday Liturgy
At the hour on which Christ hung upon the cross, we gather in the main sanctuary to offer prayers of adoration and devotion.
6:30 p.m. + Stations of the Cross
New this Year! Join in the ancient tradition of walking the “Way of the Cross,” whereby we hear and participate in the immediate events surrounding the crucifixion of Christ.
Holy Saturday, April 7
Keep Quiet
Holy Saturday is a mystery, for on this day the Christ of God lay dead in the tomb. Our solemn observance on this day is to keep quiet. There are no activities at the church on Holy Saturday. Like the tomb, the sanctuary is silent, dark, and bare . . . waiting for Easter.
Easter Sunday, April 8
6:30 a.m. + The Great Vigil of Easter
Since the earliest days of the Christian Church, God's faithful people have gathered under the cover of darkness to await the arrival of Easter's first light. Assembled around the "new fire," the ancient Christians lit their candles and told the stories of God's saving deeds. They sang songs and offered prayers. They baptized new members and remembered their own baptismal covenent. And just as the new light filled the sky, they shared the first Communion of Easter Day. Welcome to the Great Vigil of Easter.
8:45 a.m. + Festive Parish Breakfast
Whether you come for the Great Vigil of Easter or the standard Easter Sunday service, be sure to join us for a festive Easter breakfast.
10 a.m. + Easter Sunday Service
Traditional Easter Sunday service with Baptisms and Communion.
11:30 a.m. + Easter Egg Hunt
Tell the kids to bring their baskets for a fabulous egg hunt on St. Anne's beautiful grounds!
