The Episcopal Diocese of Georgia. A diocese (pronounced ˈdī-ə-səs) is a large grouping of Episcopal churches within a certain geographical region. St. Anne's is a member of the Episcopal Diocese of Georgia, which spans the southern two-thirds of Georgia and contains 70 congregations. Although each of the congregations in our diocese is different in size, liturgical style, leadership, ministry, race, and wealth, we are one family united in mission and love. The Rt. Rev. Henry I. Louttit, Bishop Every diocese has a bishop who oversees the churches within the diocese. Henry Louttit (pronounced LOUD-ĭt) is the ninth bishop of Georgia. He regularly visits St. Anne's to perform special services such as confirmations, baptisms, and more. He also reminds us that we are connected to a Church and to Christians far beyond our own walls. Bishop Louttit is retiring in 2010. Read more about Bishop Louttit.
The Rev. Scott Benhase. Every diocese has a bishop who oversees the churches within that diocese. The Rt. Rev. Scott Benhase (pronounced ˈben-hās, rhymes with "thin place") is the tenth bishop of Georgia. As our chief pastor, he visits St. Anne's annually to perform special services such as confirmations, baptisms, and more. His presence and ministry among us and our sister congregations reminds us that we are interconnected with many Christians far and near.
