Happening #83

Happening #83

Happening #83 went off without a hitch. William Willoughby was the rector of this happening. (The rector is the leader of the weekend. It is always a youth chosen by the Happening steering committee) The weekend had a face theme of Monty Python and the Holy Grail, however William had a greater theme planned, one he was truly passionate about, and that was "The Kingdom". He cleverly worked it into the weekend with a light happy attitude, which can be hard when dealing with such a serious matter. The weekend was simply amazing. All the candidates were thrilled by all the "surprises" of the weekend. At this weekend the candidates learn all about God's love and how we are never truly without it. By the weekend this love is known fully by everyone present at Honey Creek. After the last tear-filled goodbye was said and phone numbers were exchanged the candidates left Honey Creek to go to Stake N' Shake (the location of the post happening dinner) as changed people. They are now disciples of God, and they are sent out into the world to spread the love of the good lord, with all the tools they need in hand. All in all it was an AMAZING weekend, one that will not soon be forgotten.

Kamp PHUN '09

Kamp PHUN '09

Kamp PHUN '09 went off wonderfully. All of the donations that were taken up were surely put to good use. The campers came with ideas of what the week might bring them, few of them thought that they would come home with 6 new t shirts, a back pack full of goodies, an embroidered Kamp PHUN towel, and an introduction into God's love and what it means to be a Christian. At this camp the campers learned about the journey's that people all through the bible have taken, journeys such as the one the wise men took oh so many years ago, and the great crossing of the Jordan river. The campers learned that God ever loves and will always be there for them to talk to and for them to look up to when they are in times of need. To help the kids between camps they were each given a cross and a comic book bible. The look of joy on each of the camper's faces was priceless. Each and every one of them looked so touched that every person there knew his or her name, and that they were special enough to receive something so precious. It was a rewarding experience not only for the campers but also for the staff. We are all looking forward to another year of camp next summer!
